My name is Rick Ridder. You probably don’t know me. You see, I try pretty hard to stay behind the scenes.

But here’s the deal: I’m the strategy guy. And I’m the one that has to make the final decisions about how much we can afford to put behind our advertising in the final two weeks of this campaign. That’s why I’m writing to you today with an urgent appeal:

Right now, we are being outspent by more than $10 million dollars — I'm sure you’ve seen proof of that in our opponent’s glossy mailers and misleading TV ads. Now, I could pull out some cliche line right now and tell you that money alone doesn’t win elections…and that’s true, it doesn’t.

But here's what is also true: We are being drowned out and voters across the state are only hearing one side of the argument — Monsanto’s side.

We need to close the gap. Will you contribute $35 or more today?

I hope you’ve seen our ads. They’re great. They feature articulate and clear messages about why voting YES on Prop 105 is a commonsense way for Coloradans to make informed choices about the food they eat.

Unfortunately, not enough people are able to see those ads. We need to expand our digital ad buy in these final 14 days and we can only do it with your help.

I’ve been in this business for more than 30 years. And I can tell you this: Digital advertising is the way to get the best bang for your buck in the industry right now. We can micro-target down as far as individual voters and ensure we’re not wasting money talking to folks that would either always or never be with us on this issue!

To put it simply: we know we are a grassroots community campaign…and we also know how to stretch every penny we raise as far as it can possibly go. Because, like you, we recognize the value in every dollar.

This is the final push — if we don’t increase our ad buy this week, it may be all over. Please, watch our ads and contribute $35 or more today so that others can as well!

Don’t let the evil empire led by Monsanto, PepsiCo and other mega corporations win this because of the size of their checkbooks.
